Description This course is designed to provide awareness on controls that need to be taken to prevent an accidental release, discharge, or start-up of energy while personnel are repairing or maintaining a piece of equipment. This training is considered Affected Person Training. Students cannot be classified as authorized persons unless they receive equipment specific training from their company and their company designates them as authorized to perform lockout/tagout.
Objectives
Upon completion of this course, students should be knowledgeable about the following:
• Recognize applicable hazardous energy sources
(including potential energy sources)
• The purpose of LO/TO
• The difference between Authorized and Affected Persons and their duties
• LO/TO Equipment requirements
• The OSHA 6-step procedure
• LO/TO Termination procedures
• LO/TO shift changes
• Group lockouts
• LO/TO emergency situations
