PEC and the states of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama are working together to provide quality employees to the oil and gas industry funded through the Department of Labor. The 8-day O.P.P.S. program includes the following components:

• Basic Orientation (T1) / SafeGulf - A safety awareness program designed to take the place of multiple Operator orientations and to give each student a general idea of life in the oil industry, both onshore and offshore. This orientation has become the standard program for the industry.

• Offshore Water Survival - Students spend half a day in the classroom learning the principles and key techniques. The second half of the class takes place in the swimming pool where students learn the basic skills of water survival.
• First Aid/CPR and Bloodborne Pathogens - Certification in Medic First Aid/CPR will give you basic life saving skills for on the job and at home.
• Riging API RP 2d - Classroom and hands-on training in basic rigging techniques, slings, taglines, knot-tying, etc.
• Behavioral-Based Safety - Many oil companies now require Behavioral-Based safety which focuses on having a pro-active attitude, the observation and recording of unsafe acts and conditions, and on the communication and analysis of that data.

To give an employee the majority of the training needed to work in the oil and gas industry and prepare them for the work environment offshore.
