Description PEC/Premiers Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Safety Course includes Respiratory Protection training and face fit. This training module will enable each participant to gain the knowledge required to work in and around Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) environments. Topics include what is H2S, synonyms for H2S, odor characteristics, safe exposure limit, exposure effects, flaring H2S, signals associated with alarm points, action required for alarm points, respiratory protection requirements, and how to rescue an H2S victim. This training is considered full training with the exception of site specific contingency plan training.

Course Objectives
Upon copletion of this course students should be knowledgeable about the following topics:
What is hydrogen sulfide and where is it found
Safe exposure limits of H2S
Warning characteristics
Effects of overexposure
Contigency plans
Detection and monitoring equipment for H2S
H2S alarm settings and response objectives for each
Respiratory requirements
Demonstration of proper donning on SCBA
Rescue procedures required for H2S emergencies
Target Audience
This course is required and essential for personnel with potential exposure to Hydrogen Sulfide. Personnel with potential exposure to Hydrogen Sulfide must be trained annually. Prerequisites There are no prerequisites for this course.
